It’s time for me to get a new mobile phone as I have had my Sony Ericsson K850i for 18 months now. I would love an iPhone (who wouldn’t), but I’m a bit of a tight arse and don’t want to pay for a mobile phone so decided to have a look around and see what else is available.

To be honest I don’t need a decent mp3 player or camera as I hardly listen to music anyway and have a Canon Eos 450D for taking my pictures, but I would like my new phone to have a touchscreen and both Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity so I can browse the internet when I’m out and about.

I have been comparing mobile phones for a couple of days now and think I have narrowed it down to 2 choices; the HTC Magic and Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Both devices have 3.2 inch touchscreens, but the HTC runs the Android operating system and the 5800 XpressMusic runs their Symbian OS. Both also feature Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity and multimedia players, but the 5800 has a 3.5mm headphone socket compared to the miniUSB on the HTC.

I’m really torn between these two devices, although I think the HTC Magic is better looking. If anyone has any views on any of these mobile phones post a comment below, any help or user reviews would be greatly appreciated.
