The new Vauxhall Mokka

Vauxhall has released the first images of its Mokka small sport-utility vehicle, which goes on sale in the UK at the end of the year after being unveiled at the Geneva motor show in March.

The Mokka will be offered with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive. Power comes from two petrol engines and one diesel, all equipped with fuel-saving stop-start systems. The petrol units are a naturally aspirated 1.6 with 113bhp or a turbocharged 1.4 developing 138bhp. The 1.7-litre turbodiesel has 128bhp. Both more powerful engines will be offered with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

Front-wheel drive is standard, although four-wheel-drive versions will have a system that automatically transfers drive to the rear wheels.

Vauxhall is keen to promote the car’s practicality, claiming a generous cargo volume of up to 1,372 litres and the latest generation Flex-Fix bicycle carrier that is fully integrated into the rear underbody, allowing the carriage of up to three bicycles.

All models will have electronic stability and traction control, hill start assist and hill descent control systems as standard. Front- and rear-facing cameras will also be offered, the former incorporating lane departure warning and forward collision alerts, as well as traffic sign recognition.

  • How to Follow the Forex Market

When traders need to analyse their options they often use forex news and charts to do so. This helps them to monitor relevant information and to gauge its impact on the positions they hold in the market.

    Charts

If ‘a picture paints a thousand words’ then it is obvious that a chart is a very valuable tool with the capacity to improve profits when currency trading. Sometimes visual aids are more powerful indicators of trends than any other kind.

    News

For currency traders, good access to forex news, including economic reports that have an impact on the currency market, are vital, and traders also need to keep a keen eye on global political events. CitiFX Pro reviews indicate that experienced forex traders gain access to Citi’s superb financial commentary and related information, and that traders can expect customer service at CitiFX Pro to be particularly good.

    Keeping Track of Performance

Frequently, traders who fail do so because they repeat the same or similar mistakes time and time again. A forex diary, where traders record what does and does not work, is an ideal solution. With consistent use this diary can prove invaluable, and it can be used to record the time and date of transactions; the rate at which the position started and why it was started; the strategy being applied; the time, date, rate at, and reason for, exiting; the overall loss or profit and whether the strategy was followed.

With practice, patterns for successful trading become easy to recognise and repeat when the right circumstances occur.

    Gaining Ground

In the wake of a history of successful trading, the more experienced forex traders, including institutions and professionals, will want to put their knowledge to good use with the aim of achieving higher returns. It is at this point that brokers such as CitiFX Pro become attractive. CitiFX Pro is part of the huge conglomerate that is Citigroup, founded in 1812 and one of the largest banks in America by 1895. CitiFX Pro reviews cite Citigroup’s expertise, long track record and undoubted stability as a valuable support mechanism.

  • iPhone 4S isn’t a major leap forward

After hearing all of the iPhone 4S hype for the past couple of months, I was intrigued to find out what new features would be added in this latest phone, and boy was I disappointed. The iPhone 4 was a big leap forward from the iPhone 3GS both in looks and power, but this new phone just looks like a stopgap product to me.

So, what are the new features? From what I can tell the only differences between the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S are a dual-core A5 processor, an 8 megapixel camera and a new application called Siri. The Siri application allows users to use their voice to send text messages, phone people and schedule meetings.

I’m glad I didn’t wait for the iPhone 4S when my contract was up a couple of months ago, but I guess Apple will still shift millions of these anyway.

  • Now, if you’ve read this blog a few times you’ll know that I’m into gaming in a big way. Usually I’m into first person shooters and Fifa, and have been playing my fair share of Black Ops, Medal of Honor and Fifa 11 since they were released last year.

Now it’s time to start playing the new versions and I already have the demo for Fifa 12 and it’s a great improvement, but the game I’ve been waiting for all year is definitely Battlefield 3. Having been wowed by the trailers I will soon be able to play the Beta version when it’s released next week (29th September), and I can’t wait.

I played a lot of battlefield 2 on my PC, but as I don’t think it’ll be powerful enough for Battlefield 3 I’ll make do with the Xbox 360 version. This promises to be one of the best games of 2011 if not into 2012 and if the trailers are anything to go by then it’ll be well worth the wait.

I’ll write a quick review of the beta once I’ve played it for a few days so check back next week.

  • Safety features of used cars

Over recent years, car safety has improved dramatically.  Nowadays most new cars come with ABS, SIPS, ESC and many other seemingly confusing acronyms.  Before buying a used car you should familiarise yourself with the above terms so you can be sure that you know which safety features come as standard with the car you want.  It is important to note that not all car manufacturers implement identical safety features on to their vehicles.  For example, a used Ford Fiesta will not have the same features as a used Seat Leon so by understanding which safety features you want, so you will be able to purchase a car that meets your requirements.

An Antilock Braking System (ABS) has been a standard feature of all cars since 2004, so you can be assured that any used cars from that year or later will come with ABS.  ABS ensures that under heavy braking, your wheels will not lock, thereby increasing control of your car and shortening the braking distance.

The Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) was developed by Volvo in 1991 and is now a standard feature of most cars.  Metal beams are placed along the side of the vehicle and during a crash they absorb much of the energy, reducing the risk to passengers.

A newer safety feature of cars is the Electronic Stability control (ESC).  ESC acts by detecting when the driver’s course has diverged from the intended course and selectively applying individual braking to minimize the chance of an accident.

Many more safety features do exist, and are constantly evolving. Remember to research well before purchasing, as safety is paramount.

  • Getting the Right Forex Trading System

Good amateur traders can learn to perform like professionals in FX trading. A properly managed Forex portfolio can yield great results and, with practice, experienced traders do well in this business.

    Mentoring

To learn an effective Forex system or engage with a profitable Forex strategy one possibility is to seek a mentor who will be prepared to highlight free content and information about trading ideas, concepts and methods. This facilitates making an informed decision about whether to undertake Forex training with a specific trading coach.

    Daily Strategies

Novice traders can access daily Forex trading strategies and learn to read raw data for price action – that is, they can gain the knowledge and skill to use a price chart to inform trading decisions. Some Forex training companies are convinced that trading price action is a way to make money consistently.

    End of Day

Certain Forex trading systems are designed and set up for ‘end of day’ trading, allowing customers to place a trade and then let the business take care of itself, rather than spend all day at a computer getting updates. Such strategies are designed for traders who are not able to spend a lot of time monitoring Forex data and charts.

    Automated Trading

Available Forex trading systems include ‘robots’ for Automated Trading, and these are endorsed by some of the major brokers like forex.com and Citi Forex. Any Forex robot and Forex system should be tested thoroughly, for up to one month, before using it ‘live’, so that the system’s efficacy can be gauged in advance of using real, hard-earned money.

  • Transfer window has ended – my impressions

Firstly, with Manchester United having all of their summer signings done and dusted before the last day it is time to look at the other Premier League teams.

Arsenal – Arteta, Benayoun, Santos, Mertesacker

Arsene Wenger has been busy in the transfer market after the humiliating 8-2 defeat at the hands of Manchester United on Sunday. Four players came in on deadline day as Arsenal look to strengthen their midfield and defence. The players look like they could stop the rot in London but only time will tell. Arsene might regret letting Bendtner join Sunderland on loan if anything happens to Van Persie or Walcot.

QPR – Traore, Luke Young, Anton Ferdinand, Shaun Wright-Phillips

Warnock has bolstered his team yet again as he looks for Premier League survival this season and now QPR look like a team that may upset a few of the other league teams. The bargain of the day though has to be Shaun Wright-Phillips for an estimated £4 million; he is a great talent and is sure to prove himself once again.

Other transfers that caught my eye were Peter Crouch’s move to Stoke and Craig Bellamy’s move back to Liverpool.

Bring on the rest of the season, I can’t wait.

  • Choosing the right online casino

I’ve been looking at joining an online casino to play a little roulette and poker and the choice is immense. After going to a few websites I came across a website called casinochoice.co.uk which lists all of the casinos, their signup bonuses and customer ratings making it easier to choose.

All the big casinos are listed there including Bet365 Casino and 32Red Casino as well as lesser known brands like Circus Casino and Genting.  The website also shows you the best online poker rooms and bingo sites straight from the homepage so you don’t have to trawl through pages and pages on Google.

I think I’m going to choose Bet365 Casino as it seems to have one of the best signup bonuses (150%) and has a great review score. I will let you know how I get on and write a review of Bet365 when I have the time.

  • Car Cost Saving Strategies for Difficult Times

Motorists reeling from the effects of the current economic crisis are increasingly looking for ways to cut down on car running costs. Some solutions are fairly radical – these involve selling their current car and investing in more efficient models, making use of car clubs, or using public transport. Other simpler answers include finding cheaper sources of petrol and MOTs.

According to one report based on RAC figures, the costs of running a new car amount to well over ₤2000 yearly – and that’s not even taking into account things like finance costs or depreciation. Besides fuel cost savings, road tax prices are heavily biased in favour of newer, fuel-efficient ‘greener’ cars.

Shopping around for a cheaper source of fuel is another way to save. Registering with a ‘cheapest petrol price’ website is easy and accessible with a phone ‘app’ as well. The name of the petrol station with current cheapest prices in the area is supplied weekly by email or on request.

It pays to shop around at MOT time as well  While the government recommended price for the basic MOT is ₤54.85, many motorists have found themselves presented with huge bills, particularly when the MOT test has been done by a garage that does servicing and/or ‘repairs needed to pass’ as well. A testing station such as those run by the local council, that does no car repairs or servicing, will always be a cheaper option.

Finally, one of the more obvious strategies is driving at or under the speed limit. The AA has calculated that this results in a minimum saving of ₤110 per year per 12,000 miles.
